Ét menneske forsøger at opføre 26.000 andre arter på én time. Med en blanding af projektioner fra kunstorganisationen Limbic Cinema i Bristol, bevægelse, klovneri, poesi og et betagende lydbillede er Vigil en legesyg og tragikomisk udforskning af livet i en tid præget af arternes udryddelse.

Alle dyre- og plantenavne, der optræder i forestillingen, stammer fra Den Internationale Naturfredningsunions (IUCN) Rødliste over uddøde og truede arter. Skabt af det Herald Angel-prisvindende kompagni Mechanimal og opført af Tom Bailey, kan denne succesforestilling fra Edinburgh Fringe nu opleves d. 2. juli hos Earthwise Residency i Bogens.

I løbet af sommermånederne rejser Tom Bailey til Earthwise til fods og med båd. Han rejser fra Sverige til Norge og videre til Danmark, mens han følger trægrænserne i de nordiske boreale skove. Med støtte fra Perform Europe præsenterer han sin prisvindende soloforestilling Vigil ved Earthwise og afholder en workshop, der udforsker forholdet mellem mennesker og deres lokale træer.

Mechanimal er et prisvindende performancekompagni fra Bristol, ledet af Tom Bailey. Kompagniet undersøger nye fortællinger i den antropocæne tidsalder og skaber forestillinger, der turnerer både i Storbritannien og internationalt.

Experience Vigil - an award-winning performance and talk by UK nature-performance artist Tom Bailey!

One human attempts to perform 26,000 other species in the space of an hour. Blending projection design from multimedia creative studio Limbic Cinema, movement, clowning, poetry, and a stunning soundscape, Vigil is a wildly playful, tragicomic exploration of life in an age of extinction.

All the animal and plant names that appear in the show are named on the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List of extinct and threatened species. Created by Herald Angel award-winning company Mechanimal, and performed by Tom Bailey, this Edinburgh Fringe hit show can be experienced at Earthwise Residency on the 2nd of July.

During the summer months, Tom Bailey travels to Earthwise by foot and boat. He travels from Sweden to Norway to Denmark, following treelines in Nordic Boreal forests. Supported by Perform Europe, he will present Vigil at Earthwise, and run a workshop exploring the relationship between people and their local trees.

Mechanimal is an award-winning performance company from Bristol, led by Tom Bailey. The company explores new narratives of the Anthropocene era. Mechanimal creates and tours work both in the UK and internationally.
